The Accounting Principles Skill Set (FNSSS00014)(Release 3) is a comprehensive course that provides learners with the foundational knowledge and skills required to effectively manage financial records and perform basic accounting tasks. This skill set is designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in accounting, finance, or related fields, or for those who want to enhance their existing accounting skills.

The course covers key concepts and principles of accounting, including financial statements, recording financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and managing financial records. Learners will develop an understanding of the fundamental accounting concepts and learn how to apply them in practical scenarios. The course also emphasises the use of relevant accounting software and tools to manage financial information effectively.

  • FNSACC426 – Set up and operate computerised accounting systems.
  • FNSTPB411 – Complete business activity and instalment activity statements
  • FNSTPB412 – Establish and maintain payroll systems.

Entry requirements

While there are no formal prerequisites for this course, to ensure you get the most out of your learning experience with us, the following requirements must be met:

  1. You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of enrolment and must have sufficient English language skills to complete the course.
  2. You should possess basic technological literacy and have access to the Microsoft Office suite or an equivalent software package.

Course Duration

Students will have a maximum of six (6) months to complete the course via online, self-paced learning.

The course start date is taken as the date students receive the course material. If students do not complete the course within the six (6) month timeframe, the enrolment will be cancelled. Students may apply for an extension for an extra fee. Please refer to the student handbook for details on requesting extensions.

TPB Approved Course

This course meets the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) education requirements to become a registered BAS agent. Experience criteria also apply (please see TPB website for further information).

Accounting Software

This course uses the Student Version of the Accounting Software, Xero. Students will have free access to Xero as part of the course.

International/Overseas Students

Those possessing Subclass 500 visas, or any visas that expire on or before the anticipated course completion date, are not eligible to enrol with AUSCBT.

If any individual with a Subclass 500 visa or a visa that has a conflicting expiration date attempts to register, the enrolment will be cancelled and an administration fee of 25% will be charged to any student attempting to enrol.
