Course Overview
The Diploma of Accounting is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in the field of accounting. This diploma equips students with the fundamental principles and practical techniques necessary to perform accounting tasks and operate effectively within the financial sector.
Throughout the course, students will gain a solid understanding of financial management, taxation, budgeting, and financial reporting. They will develop the skills needed to prepare financial statements, maintain accounting records, and utilise various accounting software applications.
Units of Competency
Pre-Requisites
Prior to commencing this qualification, students will complete the following units of competency from Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping (FNS40222)(Release 2):
- FNSACC321 – Process financial transactions and extract interim reports
- FNSACC322 – Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers
- FNSACC418 – Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry
- FNSACC421 – Prepare financial reports
Core Units (Diploma of Accounting FNS50222)(Release 2)
- BSBTEC402 – Design and produce complex spreadsheets
- FNSACC521 – Provide financial and business performance information
- FNSACC522 – Prepare tax documentation for individuals
- FNSACC523 – Manage budgets and forecasts
- FNSACC524 – Prepare financial reports for corporate entities
- FNSACC526 – Implement and maintain internal control procedures
- FNSACC527 – Provide management accounting information

Entry Requirements
While there are no formal prerequisites for this course, to ensure you get the most out of your learning experience with us, the following requirements must be met:
- You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of enrolment and must have sufficient English language skills to complete the course.
- You should possess basic technological literacy and have access to the Microsoft Office suite or an equivalent software package.
Course Duration
Students will have a maximum of eighteen (18) months to complete the course via online, self-paced learning.
The course start date is taken as the date students receive the course material. If students do not complete the course within the eighteen (18) month timeframe, the enrolment will be cancelled. Students may apply for an extension for an extra fee. Please refer to the student handbook for details on requesting extensions.
Accounting Software

This course uses the Student Version of the Accounting Software, Xero. Students will have free access to Xero as part of the course.

Credit Transfer/RPL
Students are entitled to apply for Credit Transfer for units they have already successfully completed, or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) if they can demonstrate relevant skills and experience, ensuring prior achievements are acknowledged and reducing duplication of learning. It’s important to note that some roles may require additional experience or further education. However, the FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting provides a solid foundation for more advanced roles in accounting and finance.
International/Overseas Students
Those possessing Subclass 500 visas, or any visas that expire on or before the anticipated course completion date, are not eligible to enrol with AUSCBT.
If any individual with a Subclass 500 visa or a visa that has a conflicting expiration date attempts to register, the enrolment will be cancelled and an administration fee of 25% will be charged to any student attempting to enrol.
